Volumatic has introduced TruScan, a compact forgery detector for the retail and banking sector that can detect 99% of all known forgeries. *

The portable TruScan can be used with both English and Euro banknotes and will pay for itself with the first few detected counterfeit notes. The TruScan employs a myriad of detection methods including infra-red detection, magnetic ink, magnetic code and 2D size recognition to identify forgeries within 0.5 of a second. TruScan recognises and counts each note value and if a counterfeit is detected, it alerts the user with an optical and audible alarm.

The Bank of England announced that the total value of forged notes seized during 2007 was £5.8 million. Current market conditions are likely to make more people attempt to pass forgeries on the high street.
