Volk Specialty Lenses Support Pioneer’s Making Strides Promotion

Donation to breast cancer research with each pink ring lens purchased
Mentor, Ohio (August 14, 2009) – Volk Optical has developed an exclusive line of pink-ringed lenses to support the philanthropic efforts of ophthalmic products distributor Pioneer International.  Pioneer is celebrating its 10th anniversary by giving back and has chosen The American Cancer Society’s – Making Strides in Breast Cancer as recipient of the anniversary event.  During its “Making Strides” promotion, $30 will be donated to breast cancer research for each Volk specialty lens purchased.

The rings of Making Strides lenses are the signature pink of breast cancer awareness and are engraved with the awareness ribbon.  The specialty finish changes only the color of the ring; customers can expect the same superior clarity and expert craftsmanship that have made Volk’s patented, double aspheric, glass lenses the industry standard.  Pink Volk 20D, 78D, 90D, and Digital Wide Field lenses will be available exclusively from Pioneer.

“Researchers in the fight against cancer are the true pioneers,” says Valerie Nicola, CEO, Pioneer International. “The combined contributions of Pioneer, Volk and our customers represent a united effort towards new discoveries, and a better understanding of cancer and its treatment.”

Mentor, Ohio (August 10, 2009) – Volk Optical, the industry leader in aspheric optics, has expanded its ophthalmic lens, equipment, and accessory product line with the addition of the ri-san® Sphygmomanometer and duplex® de luxe Stethoscope from diagnostic instruments specialist Riester.

The analog ri-san Sphygmomanometer’s precision movement and easy to read linear scale ensure accurate readings.  The ergonomic bulb is suitable for both left and right handed operation and is latex free.  A simple finger tip control regulates the air release valve.  Sturdy ABS plastic casing and specially tempered diaphragm ensure a long service life.

The duplex de luxe Stethoscope’s PVC Y tube construction shields stray sounds while precision Riester membranes in the chest piece maximize acoustic performance.  Additionally, the soft, replaceable ear tips comfortably and effectively seal the external auditory canal.  The stainless steel double chest piece has a flat non-chill rim for patient comfort.

Both instruments come in multiple colors to help practitioners easily distinguish their instruments from those of their colleagues.  They’re also a convenient way to organize larger practices by color coding the equipment in each exam room.
