Texecom Introduces Next Generation of Ricochet Mesh Technology

Leading security product manufacturer Texecom is launching Ricochet MT2, the next generation of the company’s award-winning mesh network technology for reliable wireless security. The new technology has enabled the use of multiple expanders, increasing the number of wireless devices that each Premier Elite control panel can support, and wireless keyfobs are now separately supported to detection devices with 25-256 different users available depending on the control panel. Programming and commissioning has been simplified, with setup of wireless devices and keyfobs now done directly via the zone or user menus on the control panel.

A new power saving mode has been added: choosing the ‘Hybrid’ setting will now increase device responsiveness and reduce power consumption, with devices being deactivated when the system or area is disarmed, and reactivate them within a few seconds of rearming via the new ‘Global Poll’ (patent pending) function. The addition of the Hybrid power saving mode also means that the acclaimed dual-technology Premier Elite DT motion sensor now has a Ricochet enabled wireless variant, with support for the rest of Texecom’s range coming soon.

The other major feature that Ricochet MT2 brings is the ability to perform remote monitoring, diagnostics and configuration of the wireless system from a PC. The company’s proprietary Wintex software now integrates with Ricochet Monitor, meaning that multiple wireless networks can be assessed, configured and even output graphical representations of performance for each Wintex profile. The Ricochet Monitor diagnostics package now also displays device zone allocations, making system assessments even easier and more intuitive to use.

Texecom’s Premier 24 Ricochet Kit Brings Superior Wireless Security to Smaller Premises

Ricochet, the wireless mesh network technology from leading security product manufacturer Texecom Ltd., is more reliable, easier to install and more adaptable than any comparable system. The new Premier 24 Ricochet Kit provides in one package all the components necessary for a superior wireless-enabled security system for smaller commercial and premium residential projects.

New Premier 24 Ricochet Kit from Security System Specialist Texecom brings premium wireless intruder detection to all sizes of installation

New Premier 24 Ricochet Kit from Security System Specialist Texecom brings premium wireless intruder detection to all sizes of installation

The Ricochet technology enables devices to communicate not only directly with the control panel, but also to route their communications through any other nearby Ricochet devices. This means that not only is the range of the system greatly extended, but the signal strength is kept to an optimum level by automatically using the strongest signal path. The system will even ‘self-heal’ if a particular signal route becomes weak or blocked, rerouting the communication channel through other devices to bypass the interference and maintain system integrity. This level of wireless security system has previously only been viable for large commercial installations; now Texecom is bringing its benefits to a much greater range of customers.

The kit contains a Premier 24 control panel and Premier 8XP-W wireless Ricochet-enabled 8 zone expander, 3 wireless Prestige XT-W PIRs, one Impaq Contact-W wireless magnetic contact, a Premier LCDP Keypad and a Premier SmartKey. When commissioning a new system this package provides an excellent, easy to install foundation – with many options then available to expand coverage by adding further wired or wireless devices as required for the project.

The Ricochet Expansion Pack includes an 8 zone wireless expander and a wireless interface card so that up to 8 Ricochet wireless devices can be connected to any security system via voltage-free, relay-driven wired outputs. This enables all installations to take advantage of Texecom’s range of Ricochet shock, contact and PIR detectors, offering users a more flexible, stable and reliable wireless intrusion detection option than any other comparable wireless system is able to provide.

Ricochet’s use of mesh network technology means that each device in the system connects not just directly to the control panel, but also to all other devices on the system. The strongest signal path will then be used to connect via any combination of these nodes back to the control panel, ensuring the stability of the system even if conditions change along the direct route. Setup is simple and straightforward, truly taking advantage of the many benefits that wireless technology has long promised the security industry.
