The free SAM-1 App instantly recognizes the smart sensor and provides an easy-to-use interface for taking measurements and managing data. Readings can be tagged with GPS location and user comments. Stored data can be securely transmitted via email and opens in Excel for analysis and reporting, eliminating data transcription errors.

The SAM-1 can be used in the lab, field or plant for applications ranging from environmental monitoring, aquaculture, and horticulture; to municipal water sampling and wastewater compliance testing; to product quality control. As an educational tool, the SAM-1 provides hands-on experience; students can easily install the App on their personal smart devices and share sensors for experiments. Transmittance measurement with the UVT-LED ensures proper UV dosing and efficient operation. Capable of battery and solar-powered operation, the UVT-LED offers long lamp life with little maintenance and low operating costs.

Simple to operate, with a clear backlit LED display, the UVT-LED takes automatic measurements every 60 seconds. Integrated wiping prevents fouling and build-up in all water conditions, with a self-calibration check to ensure continual accuracy. The handheld model comes with battery power and convenient carrying case for use in the field and lab. The continuous model for in process use runs on 24 VDC power, and can be used in an open channel configuration or directly in a pressurized pipe. The ultra-small instrument is ideal for retrofit installations.

Measurement and monitoring of pH and ORP gives water treatment plants critical influent water quality information, and helps to meet stringent discharge regulations. Free Chlorine Sensors for Water Treatment and Disinfection

Sensorex Introduces Differential pH/ORP Sensor Series

Garden Grove, California (September 25, 2014) – Sensorex’s new SD7000 Series Differential pH/ORP Sensors offer water, wastewater and process plant operators a new measurement method based on proven sensor technology. Sensorex’s differential sensors deliver more accurate results with lower overall cost of ownership than conventional sensors. The SD7000CD model is a direct replacement for Hach® GLI and Aquametrix analog 5-wire pH and ORP sensor models.

The differential electrode technique employs three electrodes instead of the two found in conventional combination pH and ORP sensors. Solution pH is measured differentially with process (outer hemi glass) and inner reference (surrounded by a known concentrated pH 7 buffer) electrodes compared to a third ground electrode. This provides optimal measurement accuracy, minimizes reference junction potential, and eliminates sensor ground loop effects. Differential sensor design results in less maintenance for operators, minimized down time, longer sensor life and overall greater reliability.

The SD7000 sensors’ encapsulated preamp eliminates moisture problems for unmatched accuracy and reliability. The design allows mounting up to 3000 feet from installed pH/ORP monitors. Equipped with 1.5” NPT convertible threads, sensors can be mounted into flow tees or adapted to a pipe for process submersion.

The Ryton sensor body is highly chemical- resistant. The double-junction reference resists contamination to ensure measurement stability. To reduce the possibility of contamination of the internal reference electrode, it is electrically connected to the process solution with a field-replaceable double junction salt bridge. The salt bridge and standard pH 7 cell solution can be replaced periodically at a very low cost, making the SD7000 differential sensor very economical to maintain.

Influent process monitoring can alert water treatment plant operators to contaminated raw sewage entering the plant, allowing it to be diverted and further treated to avoid process upsets. Measuring pH in raw sewage can detect excess acid or base conditions that may be the result of a municipal spill or large industrial user discharge. The pH of discharge water must also be monitored to comply with local regulations. In plants using biological treatments, ORP(redox) measurement is frequently used for process control. Full featured with alarm/control relays and current outputs (4-20mA), the TX2000 transmitter interfaces to plant SCADA or DCS control systems, keeping operators apprised of changing process conditions.

The transmitter features easy-to-navigate text and graphic illustrations in a large display, backlit for operation in low light conditions. Supplied in a compact NEMA 4X/IP65 enclosure, units can be wall mounted, installed in a panel, or conveniently pipe/handrail mounted.

An optional TX2000RS model offers additional features including data display charts and trend graphics, a real-time clock with logbook function, and customer defined five-point calibration with displayed calibration curve. The RS model is also equipped with one analog output and serial RS-485 interface for MODBUS RTU or ASCII communications, for digital interface to existing plant SCADA or DCS control systems.

Both models are CE certified and include Multi-Cal calibration with automatic buffer recognition, an additional wash feature, and universal 100-240VAC power supply. The TX2000 has a pH measurement range of -2.00 to 16.00pH and an oxidation reduction potential (ORP) measurement range of -1999mV to 1999mV. The CS8000TC sensor integrates easily into in-line systems. Its keyed flange facilitates sensor orientation. A detachable cable assembly eliminates the need to pull cable through a conduit and sensors can be removed without tools for cleaning and calibration. The sensor’s conductivity cell constant is k=1.0 +/-10% for a wide measurement range within its temperature/pressure of 60°C/100psig. Temperature compensation is included with a choice of four sensor types. 10K, 30K NTC, Pt100 and Pt1000 RTD options enable matching to existing conductivity transmitter or controllers.

Drop-in Replacement for Acu-Trol® pH and ORP Probes

Sensorex’s S465 series probes offer an alternative to Acu-Trol® pH and ORP probes.

The S465 series was designed expressly as a direct fit replacement for existing Acu-Trol® pH and ORP probes. Constructed of durable PPS, S465 probes offer improved chemical resistance. Additionally, Sensorex uses a higher volume of its proprietary polymer sensor reference gel for longer service life. Sensorex’s advanced sensor technology delivers accurate measurement over a range of 0-14 pH or -1000–1000mV for ORP. The probes are suited to a variety of applications with a temperature range of 0-80°C and a pressure maximum of 100psig (standard de-rating applies).

The threaded ½” NPT connection enables easy in line installation or use with existing Acu-Trol® flow cells without modification. Advanced signal shielding reduces noise for more accurate communication with process control systems. Both the pH and ORP probes are available with a BNR connector for quick integration into existing systems.
