Scored railcar disc won’t leak at high pressures where traditional composite discs fail
Broken Arrow, Okla. (February 16, 2010) – Pressurized rail cars are at constant risk of explosion due to improper or changing pressurization. Offering an improvement over traditional, failure prone composite discs, Oseco has released the new SRC (scored railcar) rupture disc. The SRC meets AAR standards and protects against rail car explosions.

Oseco’s SRC disc for pressurized rail cars.
The SRC is a precision scored disc, which fits standard threaded or bolted railcar safety vents. The disc will burst and safely equalize pressure if the car’s internal pressure ever builds or drops to a dangerous level, eliminating the danger of explosion.
Composite discs traditionally used by pressurized tank car users and manufacturers utilize a PTFE Teflon sealing membrane, which is susceptible to damage and pinholes that can cause leaks. Available in Inconel or Stainless Steel for corrosive applications, the SRC disc features a solid metal design that completely eliminates the fragile PTFE seal and locks out damage-causing foreign materials, even when subjected to constant pressure for extended periods.

Practical, cost-effective rupture detection eliminates expensive rewiring costs
Broken Arrow, Okla. (November 4, 2009) – Standard rupture disc sensors require replacement or expensive rewiring after one use, and are often in contact with the process flow, creating possible leak paths. To provide non-invasive and cost-effective burst detection for rupture discs, Oseco offers the Flo-Tel+™ detection system.
The Flo-Tel+ is designed to work with Oseco’s Opti-Gard™ rupture disc, offering a practical solution for rupture disc detection needs. The sensor operates on a simple reed-switch and magnet technology, fitting into the Opti-Gard holder with a magnet poised over the rupture disc. When the disc bursts, the magnet and disc arc away from the sensor, creating an open circuit signal. After rupturing, the disc is the only element that needs to be replaced, eliminating expensive sensor rewiring costs.
Since the sensor is never in contact with the process flow, there are no potential leak paths. Its non-invasive design is unaffected by downstream pressure fluctuations or corrosion.

Program delivers extruder burst plugs in half the time
Broken Arrow, Okla. (September 3, 2009) – Overpressurization in plastic extruders causes expensive equipment damage and can lead to long periods of downtime for plastics manufacturers. Oseco’s new “Stock to Dock” extruder plug program delivers overpressurization protection for plastic extruders in half the time of other providers. The program offers a 10-day lead time on all orders, allowing faster delivery and less downtime.
Oseco’s extruders plugs are installed through the extruder barrel with the rupture disc end flush with the inside barrel wall, just before melted plastic is forced through the screen pack. This area of the extruder barrel can experience pressures greater than 5000 psi. Should pressure inside the barrel exceed a predetermined amount, the plug will open up and safely vent the molten plastic.
The “Stock to Dock” extruder plug program offers 1.81-inch screwdriver head, and 3 and 6-inch machined hex head burst plugs in a wide range of burst pressures. All burst plugs bodies are constructed of stainless steel and have a ½ inch-20 UNF standard thread. Custom burst plugs are available in additional sizes and burst pressures with an available CE mark for European use.

Precision rupture panel prevents product buildup and contamination
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (June 5, 2008) – To provide precision pressure relief for applications where hygiene and sanitation are concerns, Oklahoma Safety Equipment Co., Inc. (Oseco), a leader in pressure relief innovation, introduces the MVRB (Metal Vent Reverse Buckling) rupture panel.

The MVRB can avert catastrophic explosions caused by overpressures in dust collectors, conveyor systems, dryers and other equipment requiring precise pressure relief. Its smooth surface prevents product buildup and contamination, making it well-suited for hygienic and sanitary services. The non-fragmenting design increases process safety in the event of panel rupture. The MVRB is compatible with a wide range of environments, performing consistently in high temperature applications up to 700ºF.
The MVRB is designed for high operating ratio applications in the power generation, pharmaceutical, transportation and chemical markets. It is the only rupture panel available that has a 90% operating ratio – a design feature that is essential in demanding applications in order to avoid premature panel rupture. With reduced nuisance failures, the panel life of the MVRB is longer than that of typical panels.
The round panels are constructed from stainless steel, nickel inconel or monel, and are available in diameters from 12 to 36 inches. The MVRB should be installed using a custom designed rolled angle ring configuration. Custom sizes, materials, and panels designed to withstand vacuum are also available upon request.

February 2007
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (February 15, 2007) – One of Oseco’s best-selling pressure relief product ranges is the versatile line of FAS bursting disks. The company is now manufacturing a 24″ FAS, which is their largest forward-acting scored disk offered.

In the past, large disk applications had limited options and often needed disks from different product lines, requiring more work for engineers. With the addition of the large 24″ disk customers can cover many of their disk needs with the same product line, for easier specification.
The 24″ FAS is non-fragmenting, keeping disk pieces from entering a piping system in the event of a disk burst. The disk can withstand full vacuum and will operate at up to 90% of the stamped rating and still provide excellent service life. In addition, the disk performs well in static and high-cycling services. The scored portion of the disk is placed away from the process, preventing product buildup and making it ideal for sanitary applications.
Though proper installation is an important factor in disk performance, the 24″ FAS will activate at or below the rated burst pressure even when damaged or installed incorrectly, making it fail-safe. The user-friendly, non-torque sensitive design eliminates the need for pre-torqued rupture disk holders.
This latest addition to the FAS line, which is available in a wide range of sizes from 1″ up to the new 24″, allows customers and engineers to choose from an increased range of disks that suit many needs within a single facility. It is available in Hallestoy, 316 Stainless Steel, Nickel, Inconel and Monel; other materials are available upon request.
