Labsphere Makes Engineering Appointments
Promotes Greg McKee to Vice President Engineering; Dan Scharpf to General Manager, Systems Business Unit
North Sutton, New Hampshire (May 25, 2011) – Positioning the company for future growth, Labsphere has made two new appointments in its engineering department. Greg McKee has been promoted to Vice President of Engineering, while Dr. Dan Scharpf assumes McKee’s previous position as General Manager of the company’s Systems Business Unit.
In his new role, McKee will be responsible for all aspects of engineering and technical development at Labsphere, which includes direction of new product development for software, light measurement and uniform source systems, and custom solutions for customer-specific applications. As a member of the Labsphere Board of Directors, McKee will collaborate on the strategic plans for future growth as the company grows its reputation as the world leader in light measurement solutions and provider of optical coatings, materials, and components.

Throughout his 23 year career at Labsphere, McKee has held a number of technical and marketing management positions. He frequently represents the company in international standards setting bodies, serving at various times as a director of the Council for Optical Radiation Measurements (CORM), and chairing the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) Testing Procedures Committees and the Lamp Testing Engineers Council. He has written many papers and given numerous presentations and is well-known in the light measurement scientific community.
Following McKee’s promotion, Scharpf was appointed the new General Manager of the company’s Systems Business Unit. He will manage all aspects of sales and production of custom systems, overseeing a group of engineers who focus on identifying and designing custom solutions for light measurement and remote sensing applications.

Scharpf joined Labsphere two years ago as the Sales Manager for the Systems Business Unit. Prior to that, he accumulated over 20 years experience in laboratory testing, data analysis, simulation, and analytical modeling in areas of thermal analysis, acoustics, aerodynamics, and light measurement. Scharpf has authored many technical publications and given several technical presentations at industry events.
