Winner of the Optician/Keeler Fundus Competition
The overall winner of the Optician/Keeler Non-Myd Fundus Competition is Rod Lane of Williams Optometrist in Birmingham. Rod received his prize of a Canon digital camera presented by Colin West, Keeler’s imaging product manager and one of the competition judges, who commented:
“The quality of entries just gets better and better ever year – it is a pleasure to review such quality work; judging the winners is tricky as everyone deserves to win, but eventually one entry will surface as the overall winner. Rod Lane was chosen due to his extensive portfolio of consistently high quality images.”
Rod Lane, a keen photographer, said he was delighted to win, “It’s great to know that my investment of time and money in developing the role of the camera within my practice has been recognised by my peers.”
In addition, Rod noted the competition’s importance in highlighting the benefits of fundus imaging and patient care. “The use of digital fundus imaging has proved to be one of the most significant steps forward for optometric practise enhancing our ability to discover and identify retinal pathology and improving the speed and quality of referral to the benefit of all our patients.”
Williams Optometrist is a family owned business in the city of Birmingham and part of the diabetic retinopathy screening programme. Upon accepting his prize, Rod said he was “looking forward to entering again next year!”
