The new Spectra Plus spectacle mounted indirect ophthalmoscope from Keeler is lightweight, compact and portable. It also has an in-built bright, homogenous LED light source that eliminates the need for bulb replacements.

The entire optical unit and light can be flipped up to allow direct eye contact when talking to a patient or writing up notes. The indirect system is supplied with one of Keeler’s new lightweight wrap around Sport Frames. Available in a variety of metallic colours, the frames are designed to ensure maximum comfort and balance. The indirect can also be fitted to the user’s own prescription frames if required.

The Spectra Plus has variable PD (pupil distance) settings between 48 and 76mm. This means there are no restrictions on the user – they simply adjust the PD as necessary.

A compact Lithium ion battery is provided as standard. The small battery simply clips onto a belt when in use and can be stored in a small desk-top charger when not needed. A fully charged battery provides up to four hours continuous use. A carry case is also provided with the Spectra Plus system.

Keeler, which will be celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, will be showing a wide range of optometric and ophthalmic products at Optrafair 2007.

On display will be the Specialist hand-held ophthalmoscope. Lighter and easier to use than previous models, it has a powerful, rechargeable Lithium battery. Also on show will be Keeler’s new lightweight Spectra Plus spectacle-mounted indirect ophthalmoscope. With a built-in LED light, it eliminates the need for bulb replacements. The popular Pulsair non-contact tonometer will also be available for demonstration and purchase on the stand.

New for the digital imaging market will be Kowa’s10 megapixel Non Myd Fundus camera which provides sharper, clearer images of the retina for improved diagnostics. In addition, there will also be Keeler’s SL-40Di slit lamp. With new, improved software, the SL-40Di can easily capture still and video images of both the anterior and posterior segments.

A Volk demo zone will include lenses from the digital series, including the Digital 1.0x, the Digital Wide Field and the new Digital High Mag. All of these lenses provide unrivalled views of the retina through Keeler’s slit lamps.

Three stand systems will be on display, including a Compact stand with a more comfortable chair, a Budget stand, and a stand with a motorised, sliding, elevating table for a single instrument – ideal for disabled patients.

Keeler will also showcase its extensive selection of existing products, including retinoscopes, autorefractors and the Accutome Pachpen Pachymeter. The ever-popular Practice Essentials retail zone will also allow customers to buy their favourite products and accessories on the stand.
