Riester’s ri-cardio 24-hour Blood Pressure Monitor Sets the Standard for Blood Pressure Measurement

Rudolf Riester GmbH has been developing and manufacturing devices for blood pressure monitoring for over 60 years and its new ri-cardio 24-hour blood pressure monitor is the latest addition to its extensive range.

Riester’s ri-cardio 24-hour Blood Pressure Monitor Sets the Standard for Blood Pressure Measurement

ri-cardio offers 24 hours of blood pressure monitoring, considered by clinicians worldwide to be the gold standard in blood pressure determination. 24-hour monitoring delivers valuable diagnostic data that cannot be acquired by means of conventional sphygmomanometers in the hospital and at home as it incorporates temporal blood pressure fluctuations, nocturnal blood pressure and the nightly fall and morning increase in blood pressure levels.

ri-cardio uses clinically validated technology that is recognised by all three international standards: the British Hypertension Society, the European Society of Hypertension International Protocol and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation.
It is designed to be light and compact for patient comfort. It uses motion tolerant technology to ensure measurement accuracy and its quiet pump action pumps to 30 mm hg above the last systole to reduce measurement duration for the patient. A patented, elastic cuff ensures correct positioning without the typical, unwieldy closure and its curved design is suitable for the larger arm.

A flash memory chip in ri-cardio prevents possible data loss. The blood pressure monitor can connect to a computer via USB and user-friendly software allows configuration, analysis and interpretation of collected blood pressure results that can show hidden clinical issues such as latrogenic hypertension, masked or therapy-resistant hypertension and hypotension with anti-hypertensive therapy. PDF reports are compatible with patient data systems and can be configured to summarise relevant statistical data.

Riester’s ri-cardio package includes a 24 hour blood pressure monitor, software, 2 cuffs, a carry case with patient belt, a USB interface cable, 4 AA alkaline batteries, instructions and a 2 year guarantee.

The CLD500’s advanced sensing membrane keeps cross sensitivity interference from free chlorine to a minimum. The CLD500 features improved sensor stability over the entire operating temperature range.  An integral two wire loop powered transmitter with 4-20mA output delivers readings to process control systems such as a PLC or DCS. The CLD502 covers the 0-2ppm range, while the CLD510 model covers the 0-10ppm. A large electrolyte reservoir with an easily replaced membrane cap and solution reduce maintenance and maximize sensor life.

New PixelCam Cameras Capture Real-Time SWIR Multispectral Images

Ocean Thin Films has introduced PixelCam™, the first commercially available “snapshot” multispectral cameras for shortwave infrared (SWIR) analysis from 700-1700 nm. The cameras harness SWIR’s powerful imaging by simultaneously acquiring four or more standard and custom spectral bands with a single camera, enabling extraction of spectral information not noticeable with panchromatic SWIR devices. This feature makes the PixelCam especially useful for applications in biomedical imaging, process control and high-contrast security and surveillance environments.

New PixelCam Cameras Capture Real-Time SWIR Multispectral Images

The breakthrough to provide these compact multispectral camera platforms is combining PixelTec’s precision micro-patterned optical coating technology with robust SWIR area sensor cameras manufactured by Sensors Unlimited of UTC Aerospace Systems. High-transmission dichroic filter arrays are aligned directly over corresponding pixels in the imaging array for optimal spectral and spatial resolution. Standard PixelCam cameras come preconfigured with three and four bands, and custom cameras are available with additional application-specific bands – providing greater versatility and contrast than traditional multi-sensor devices.

“PixelCam makes this sophisticated multispectral SWIR technology – which used to be limited to highly specialized projects – now much more accessible, portable and practical for all kinds of research and production applications,” said Randel Mercer, Vice President of Business Development for Ocean Thin Films. “Its unique pixel-level filters make PixelCam the first commercial ‘snapshot’ camera that can be customized and scaled for your specific multispectral application.”

At the heart of each PixelCam multispectral camera is a custom filter array integrated into a solid-state InGaAs imager with a full resolution of 640×512.  Its sturdy platform provides simultaneous 12-bit Camera Link® digital and RS170 analogue outputs and an external trigger. The form factor, frame rates, operating temperature and power requirements are unchanged by the passive spectral filters – enabling easy integration into handheld, mobile, and aerial devices.
