The line-powered TX-3000 can be user programmed on-site to measure either pH or ORP (Redox). Its dual output design, with an isolated (0)4 – 20mA output for pH or ORP readings and one for temperature measurement, eliminates the need for a separate temperature transmitter. A large backlit LCD screen displays both parameters simultaneously and two adjustable Hi/Lo relay contacts deliver results to automated process control systems.

With an extended pH measurement range of -2.00 to 16.00, the TX-3000 is suitable for a full range of applications. The NEMA 4x, IP65 enclosure can be wall, panel, or pipe-mounted for easy integration in most installations. The TX-3000 can be easily programmed onsite with its push button interface. The unit can be password protected for secure installations.

Academic, industry professionals can use free or subsidized SpectroCam for data collection

Ocean Thin Films is calling for grant proposals featuring multispectral imaging applications that would utilize the SpectroCam™ platform. SpectroCam is an imaging system that integrates scientific-grade sensors with eight filters to produce multispectral images.  This grant gives participants the unique opportunity to add a high-end instrument to their lab at little or no cost.

The grant program, called MSInnovation, is geared toward cutting-edge research programs that break new ground with their applications and techniques.  SpectroCam is available in three models — VIS, UV and SWIR — that can be utilized for biomedical, forensic, art conservation and authentication, archaeology, agricultural, industrial and surveillance applications. Collected images are based on specific spectral bands, including regions beyond what the naked eye or traditional cameras can see in the UV and infrared.  Unique information obtained from multispectral data allows powerful analysis and unlocks new methods for experimental design.

Researchers from accredited academic institutions or relevant private industries may apply for the grant. Submissions will be evaluated by Ocean Thin Films employees based on the following: feasibility; innovation in the scientific field; commercial potential; creative application of multispectral imaging and alignment with Ocean Thin Films goals. The company expects to award up to 10 grants, and international applications are encouraged.

To apply, send a one-page submission describing the research program’s aims and intended use of the SpectroCam to MSInnovation@oceanthinfilms.com by January 31, 2013. Grants will be awarded in February.  Multiple applications per individual or group can be submitted, but only one award will be issued. If selected, a more detailed report describing the applicant’s proposed use will be required. Ocean Thin Films will work with chosen recipients to configure a SpectroCam for their specific needs.

The SonicSens 2 battery-powered ultrasonic level and flow sensor, from specialist manufacturer HWM, offers non-contact, accurate, remote and wireless monitoring of water levels and flow rates. The ultrasonic sensor precisely measures the distance to (and therefore level of) the water surface, and can automatically send alerts to up to 16 phone numbers when the level reaches specified thresholds. When an alarm condition activates, it can also provide accelerated dial-in functionality, allowing users to quickly access detailed, relevant and timely new information when they have to.

For early flood warning systems, the device’s versatile telemetry options, robust construction and long battery life make SonicSens 2 particularly well-suited: not requiring any ongoing maintenance or supporting infrastructure, it is perfect for “fit and forget” operations in hard to access locations. Once installed, it will continue to function as programmed without the need for local access, upkeep or interaction.

The system is supplied with user-friendly PC-based software that significantly speeds and eases the installation and setup process. The intelligent sensor features adjustable range settings, a variable dead band or blanking distance, self-diagnostics and an alarm condition in the event of echo loss. Intrinsically safe and ATEX versions are available for use in potentially hazardous environments, and a second channel capability (digital or analogue) allows for additional temperature, pressure (depth) or flow logging via an external device.
The SonicSens 2 includes both the intelligent ultrasonic sensor and a Multilog LX telemetry data logger, which transmits the data via SMS or low cost GPRS. Two-way connectivity enables the unit to be reprogrammed remotely without the need for expensive and time-consuming site visits – really improving convenience and cost-efficiency for hard to access locations.

New alarm conditions such as rate-of-rise have been added, which can now trigger an alert to up to sixteen specified telephone numbers. When an alarm condition is activated, SonicSens 2 can provide accelerated dial-in functionality, which allows data to become rapidly available during these events. This will ensure that operators have detailed information with which to quickly assess the situation and promptly respond to changing levels.

HWM has used specifically-designed low-power electronics for the SonicSens 2 to give it a five year battery life expectancy, which is particularly useful when flow or level sensing is required in remote, hard to reach locations. A low cost extended battery pack is also available to maintain this five year battery life even when the device is transmitting data every 15 minutes.

The 10-32 Cone-Tip Click-N-Seal Ultra fitting is pressure-rated for up to 2000 psi (140 bar) with sturdy PEEK construction.  It uses a unique method for hand-tightening fittings. The cap clicks when the right torque is achieved, ensuring a secure seal without guesswork or a wrench. It can be used for 1/16” outside diameter semi-rigid tubing such as PEEK™, PTFE, ETFE and FEP.

Diba’s 6-40 PEEK fitting handles pressure up to 500 psi (33 bar) and houses a PEEK ferrule insert and type 316 stainless outer steel case. It can be used as a replacement part for Lee Minstac™, Tinytight™, and Upchurch™ 6-40 Super Flangeless™ ferrules. Diba’s Omni-Lok™ Type S fitting system further bolsters the fitting. A two-piece ferrule attaches to the outside of the tubing and is surrounded by a stainless steel lock ring with just the PEEK portion of the connection system in the fluid’s path. The ferrule sits in an opening of the fitting, allowing complete thread engagement with the conical port.
