amGard Pro builds on the recognised modularity and robust design of the existing amGard range but with added features and benefits identified by market feedback. The Pro range integrates modern technology to deliver new control functionality but still offers the option for traditional lockout retro-fitting, creating a variety of new configurations not previously available. amGard Pro has been tested to withstand up to 10KN retention force, making it Fortress’ strongest yet.

Use of light emitting diodes (LEDs) as an energy-efficient light source has become more commonplace recently as the technology has improved over the last few years.  The otoscopes and ophthalmoscopes in Riester’s ri-scope® L and e-scope® ranges now use LED lights to provide a clearer image and increased lifespan with their whiter light and excellent efficiency.  LED illumination is also offered with otoscopes in Riester’s ri-former modular diagnostic station, which offers a versatile combination of modular options and cost-savings by negating the need for batteries.

Along with other energy-efficiency improvements such as durable li-ion batteries and automatic power management, Riester’s use of the most up-to-date technology offers doctors and nurses a range of E.N.T. examination instruments that provides higher quality light over a much longer lifespan.  For example, the LED lamps in the ri-scope® L series will produce at least 20,000 hours of 17,500 Lux light intensity, compared to the 20-30 hours of a xenon or halogen bulb.

In addition to the direct user benefits, Riester is pleased to be offering a product that is much more environmentally friendly than traditional lamps, with the instruments using less energy, requiring less maintenance and making the batteries last much longer – meaning less waste from disposal and replacement. Alkaline batteries for e-scope® and lithium batteries for ri-scope® L have a much longer lifetime of 50 hours when used with LED illumination compared to traditional bulbs.

Labsphere Adds Calibrated Lamp Standards to NVLAP Accredited Range

Labsphere, Inc. has earned accreditation as a NVLAP ISO 17025 calibration laboratory for calibrated Forward Spectral Flux Lamp Standards. Earlier this year, the company was also accredited as an NVLAP Lab 200951-0 for calibrated Spectral Flux Lamp Standards.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) governs the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP). Labsphere successfully completed rigorous on-site assessments and technical evaluations of its engineering, manufacturing, and calibration departments to gain accreditation.

Labsphere’s global reputation for stable, repeatable Forward Spectral Flux Lamp Standards is well established. Each NIST-traceable standard is carefully screened, seasoned and calibrated at its manufacturing facility under the guidelines recommended by the IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society).

NVLAP accreditation signifies that Labsphere operates in accordance with stringent guidelines pertaining to quality systems, engineering expertise, technical personnel, test and calibration methods, laboratory equipment and environment, measurement traceability, handling of test and calibration items, and accuracy in test and calibration reports.

Keeler’s PSL One has been designed to be lightweight and durable, ideal for use on paediatric, elderly and disabled patients, in on- or off-site clinics, with a precision-machined aluminium chassis that creates a sturdy structure able to withstand daily travel and use in a busy practice.

PSL One features slit and wheels from 0.15 to 1.6 mm, a 12mm circle and a 1mm square to produce anterior chamber flare, aiding the diagnosis of uveitis. Red free, blue and ND (Neutral Density) filters all come as standard. Its advanced optics offers x10 magnification, with illumination control down to zero.

The new range of Mini-Valves includes the 038T2B (bottom-ported) and 038T2S (side-ported) normally-closed valves with ¼- 28 UNF threaded ports. 038T Mini-Valves use a custom designed, high efficiency solenoid that consumes only two watts at 12 or 24 VDC for minimal heat generation.

Fluid contact is restricted to the valve body and the flexible diaphragm, both constructed from highly inert polymers, allowing non-contact parts to be sourced economically from standard components. The valves offer bi-directional flow, and are also available in a manifold mount configuration.

Vivo’s four tungsten halogen sources, arranged for reflection measurements at a 90 degree angle to the detection fibre, can be turned on and off for precision control. The powerful bulb output enables shorter spectrometer integration times than conventional methods-as fast as 1ms with some system setups. An inner cooling fan reduces the risk of overheating the sample to ensure accuracy.

The Vivo can be attached to Ocean Optics’ RTL-stage or other standard for stability and control. Powered by an included universal power supply, the Vivo’s tungsten halogen bulbs are rated for 2,000 hours.

Alicat meters and controllers measure mass flow using differential pressure and a patented laminar flow technology, resulting in fast response with a rugged design. The turndown ratio of a flow instrument refers to the ratio of minimum flow to full scale flow that the unit can accurately measure. While the industry standard for this performance parameter is 100:1 or less, Alicat’s new 200:1 ratio covers a wider flow range with fewer pieces of instrumentation. Use of a single multi-range flow meter reduces instrument cost and saves valuable component space inside equipment cabinets.

Alicat’s mass flow meters quickly and accurately measure pressure, temperature and volumetric flow in addition to mass flow. For applications requiring precision gas flow control, Alicat’s mass flow controllers deliver accurate flow regulation of gases with the ability to respond to upstream gas flow changes, attaining and maintaining flow setpoints in less than 100ms.

Devices come pre-calibrated (NIST traceable) for Air, Hydrogen, Helium, and Argon as well as 16 other gases and 10 gas mixes.
