With a choice of four spectrometers and integrating sphere options ranging in size from 25cm to 195cm, illumia systems are highly customizable for any budget or application. The spectrometers’ wide dynamic ranges mean that a single integrating sphere system can measure a broad scope of light levels.

The illumia systems measure Total Spectral Flux, Luminous Flux, Radiant Flux, Chromaticity, CCT and CRI, Peak Wavelength, Dominant Wavelength I, V, and Luminous Efficacy. With the addition of a TEC temperature control and monitoring component, the illumia pro also delivers complete Thermal, Optical and Electrical characterization of LEDs.

Labsphere’s MtrX-SPEC software delivers spectral results in milliseconds that conform to global standards and measurement geometries. Labsphere’s NIST-traceable, NVLAP® accredited calibrated lamp standards allow manufacturers to move product development from design to market more quickly with in-house testing of the thermal, optical, and electrical properties in preparation for meeting global market standards.

All systems are sold with Labsphere’s Spectraflect® high reflectance coating, providing a nearly perfect diffuse reflectance for greatest measurement accuracy. Additional accessories are available for integration into the illumia systems for customers requiring specific application results.

The R1 shock-proof® blood pressure meter was designed with patent pending shock-proof technology developed with researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute in Stuttgart, Germany.  The ‘two components’ system protects the measuring system from impacts that can result in deviations up to 10mmHg after shock and vibration damage. Results show Riester’s R1 shock-proof® barely deviates at all, up to 3mmHg, well within the accepted legal allowance, providing accurate and reliable readings. The R1 shock-proof® comes with a 5 year warranty to provide peace of mind.

e-mega® has been designed to deliver lifelong precision thanks to long-lasting parts and  a specially tempered copper-beryllium diaphragm that allows pressure loading up to 600mm Hg. The ergonomic shape results in fast inflation and minimal patient discomfort. The large manometer measuring scale is accurate and easy to read, with a maximum error tolerance of +/- 3 mm Hg. The polished manometer is easy to disinfect, while a micro filter protects the air release valve and measuring system. e-mega is supplied with a bladderless cuff that is washable and easy to disinfect, saving time and preventing contamination.

Vivo’s four tungsten halogen sources, arranged for reflection measurements at a 90 degree angle to the detection fibre, can be turned on and off for precision control. The powerful bulb output enables shorter spectrometer integration times than conventional methods-as fast as 1ms with some system setups. An inner cooling fan reduces the risk of overheating the sample to ensure accuracy.

The Vivo can be attached to Ocean Optics’ RTL-stage or other standard for stability and control. Powered by an included universal power supply, the Vivo’s tungsten halogen bulbs are rated for 2,000 hours.

Petronor Orders Over 1000 Netherlocks Wireless VPI Handwheel Valve Position Indicators for Oil Refinery

1160 wireless VPI units have been ordered from Dutch valve safety specialist Netherlocks by Bilbao Petronor Oil Refinery, part of Spanish oil and gas giant Repsol. Following a very successful three year pilot program, the new equipment will replace existing valve position signalling at the 220,000 barrels-per-day refinery.

The VPI (Valve Position Indicator) was designed by Netherlocks to provide a reliable feedback signal from hand wheel operated valves, converting the open and closed positions to a digital signal by way of a mechanical counter system. Overcoming traditional issues about mounting strength and signal reliability, both the VPI’s mounting method and counter use well-tested and proven designs, which have been used successfully in Netherlocks’ mechanical interlock systems for over 15 years.

The VPI is an ‘add-on’ product, and can be mounted to either new or existing hand wheel operated gate, globe or rising stem valves without interrupting normal process. Coupled with the mechanical counter system, Netherlocks uses an ATEX-approved switch as standard – though customers are able to change this specification if required. Once mounted in place, the ‘open’ and ‘closed’ set points are adjusted and the result is a completely reliable system for valve position indication.

For the Bilbao Petronor Oil Refinery, Petronor wanted a wireless solution, which posed no problem using the VPI technology. Because the counter works simply and mechanically, the valve position tracking will always be reliable at the point of detection – to make the feedback to the control room wireless, it simply required a wireless transmitter to be fitted along with the switch, as per the customer’s specification.
