HWM Hydreka has introduced the ChronoFLO Transit Time Ultrasonic Flowmeter, a temporary or semi-permanent device for accurate, real-time pipe flow measurement and leakage logging. The flowmeter is non-invasive, meaning there is no disruption of plant operation, no pressure loss, no risk of leakage and hygienic integrity is ensured.
The ChronoFLO features two magnetic sensors that are simply attached and strapped to the pipe, upstream and downstream. A signal is bounced off the inside of the pipe and analysis of the Doppler effect enables the velocity of flow to be calculated. A built-in data logger and a battery life of up to 400 hours means the system can be easily used for leakage logging.
The ChronoFLO uses advanced digital correlation processing techniques to achieve stable, accurate results even with difficult media such as drinking water and effluents. New technology means zero adjustment is now unnecessary and real-time, directly measured speed of sound compensation reduces flow error from fluid variations with temperature and pressure.
Installation is easy. The operator simply inputs the pipe material, diameter or circumference and, optionally, the thickness and the software tells them how far apart to fix the sensors. The system is accurate to within 0.5% plus zero bias, which can be eliminated if required by a zero flow check. It can be powered via an AC or DC adaptor and features RS232 or RS485 Digital I/O for set-up and download with HWM Hydreka’s WinFluid software.
