Fortress Interlocks has introduced the robust DMSK2 into its DM (Door Module) access interlock range. The DMSK2 is a standalone, stainless steel, double door interlock specially designed for hygienic areas and suitable for all types of doors. Its minimal, smooth design helps reduce dirt traps while protecting workers from hazardous areas. DMSK2 is ideal for use in the food industry and any applications requiring hygienic processes.
As part of an interlock system, DM locks are used to control access to enclosed areas until a safe condition has been achieved. In a typical operation sequence, the key is inserted into the lock and turned; the actuator is disengaged and the door opened. The key remains trapped until the door is closed and the actuator re-engaged. The DMSK2 double door interlock allows up to two trap keys.
The DM module benefits from a revolutionary head design which features a choice of 4 head rotation angles with an adjustment of 360° at 90° increments and 2 actuator entry points.
The head, all internal contact components, actuators and keys are constructed using stainless steel. Tested to over 1,000,000 operations, the units have tamper resistant head mechanisms, and require minimal maintenance.

Completed orders must be in by December 6th for delivery by December 22nd
Erlanger, K.Y. (November 21, 2011) – As the year draws to a close and facilities make plans for shutdown maintenance, Fortress Interlocks has set its order deadline for interlocking products needed to complete shutdown work. Orders for standard Fortress mGard, amGard and eGard products submitted by no later than noon E.S.T on December 6, 2011 are guaranteed for delivery by December 22, 2011.
Completed orders must include all coding, pricing and delivery information. Orders in excess of 30 pieces of a single item and orders with special part numbers (ask a Fortress sales representative for details) are excluded from this delivery guarantee.
Like most manufacturers, Fortress Interlocks’ manufacturing facility will shut down the week of December 26. Fortress USA will attempt to accommodate any rush orders during this time from its limited stock, however most orders cannot be fulfilled during this week.

Safety interlocking company named top ten vendor
Erlanger, K.Y. (October 27, 2011) – Safety Interlocking company Fortress Interlocks has been recognized as a Top Ten Vendor by high-tech industrial automation solutions distributor Power/mation. This is the fifth year in a row that Fortress was recognized for overall excellence.

Safety Interlocking company Fortress Interlocks has added its new E1, Extracted Key Adaptor, to the amGard range of modular safety gate switch interlocks. The E1 has been designed to ensure that the door to hazardous machinery cannot be opened without removing the safety key, and the machinery cannot then be restarted until the key is returned.
Fortress has achieved this by designing a mechanism that traps the actuator in the head until the key is removed which then allows the ‘gate’ to swing over the keyhole. While the actuator remains out of the head, the gate remains over the keyhole preventing the key being returned to the lock.
E1 ensures a specific sequence of operation and can be stacked or combined with other adaptors; up to 5 key adaptors can be used in one configuration. E1 also provides a unique link to Fortress’ high profile mechanical mGard range of interlocks.
E1 works with access key and safety key adapters, amGard LOK or STOP bodies and is suitable for either hinged or sliding door applications. New position creates dedicated liaison for channel partners
Erlanger, K.Y. (June 16, 2011) – To better serve its North American distributors, Fortress Interlocks has appointed Josie Dewald Marketing Coordinator. Dewald will provide sales and customer service support for the company’s line of safety interlocking products to its sales team and channel partners in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil.

Dewald comes to Fortress from the Trak Group (Cincinnati, Ohio), where she was an account manager providing recruiting services to clients in the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati area. Prior to that, Dewald worked in banking, specializing in commercial lending.

Fortress Interlocks has introduced a safety EH door Handle as part of its amGard range of safety interlocks. The stainless steel EH Handle is used in conjunction with Fortress’ actuator head and is designed to be intuitive with a 90° rotating handle that can be used on either left or right handing doors.
The EH Handle offers an escape release option as standard, ensuring the safety of operators at all times. It also has lock-out features and can support up to four padlocks with a shackle diameter of 8mm.

Fortress has redeveloped its Pneumatic Valve+ (PV+) unit into a modular design that allows the configuration of an array of valves, trapped key interlocks and key switches in any combination.
The PV+ is suitable for the isolation of a pneumatic power source and is conventionally key-free, but the revised modular design allows the unit to be used in conjunction with other functional modules, giving the user flexibility.
The PV+ has been designed to complement the Fortress mGard range of mechanical key interlocks for heavy applications, which work by releasing and trapping keys in a predetermined sequence to ensure safe operation of dangerous machinery; access is not permitted until a safe condition has been achieved.

With the new PV+, a combination of isolation/access keys is possible, with sequential or non-sequential key operation available.
