High Strength Aluminum Coated Fibers from Fiberguide

Hermetically sealed fibers ideal for operation in vacuum environments

Stirling, N.J. (November 30, 2012) – Fiberguide Industries’ aluminum coating provides added strength to optical fibers for applications requiring tight bends or resistance to harsh conditions. The fibers have proven ideal for use in medical handsets and instruments, semiconductor manufacturing and sensors.

Fiberguide Industries’ aluminum coated fiber provides high strength for tight bends and extreme temperatures.

Fiberguide Industries’ aluminum coated fiber provides high strength for tight bends and extreme temperatures.

Aluminum coating can be applied to a wide variety of step index, graded index and single mode fibers. The coating gives the optical fiber high strength (>10GPa bending) and a high stress corrosion coefficient (>100) for reliability in tight bends. Fibers are hermetically sealed for high vacuum applications, and can withstand operation in temperatures from -269°C to +400°C. Standard core diameters are available up to 440 µm, and lengths up to 4 km.

Fiberguide’s Graded Index Fibers Ideal for Telecommunications

Only graded index fibers available with gold, polyimide and aluminum coatings

Stirling, N.J. (January 21, 2011) –  For reliable use in data communication links, Fiberguide Industries provides its AGI™ Series of Graded Index Silica core/ Silica clad optical fibers.

Fiberguide Industries’ AGI™ Series of graded index optical fibers.

Fiberguide Industries’ AGI™ Series of graded index optical fibers.

The AGI Series offers the high bandwidth of single mode fibers with the convenient termination of step-index multimode fibers.  The result is a fiber with good bandwidth that can be used with lower cost light emitting diodes, making it a popular choice for medium distance data communication links such as local area networks (LANs).

Fiberguide Industries is the only supplier of graded index silica fibers to offer premium coatings for reliable performance in extreme temperature conditions such as polyimide (-190ºC to +350 ºC), aluminum (-269ºC to +400 ºC) and gold (-269ºC to +700ºC).  Fibers are also available in a variety of sizes to fit customer applications.  The AGI Series 50/125 is available with core diameters from 50µm ± 3µm and clad diameters from 125µm ± 1µm/-3µm.  The AGI Series 62.5/125 has core diameters from 62.5µm ± 3µm and clad diameters from 125µm + 1µm/-3µm.
