Beam Detection Products From Fire Fighting Enterprises
Fire Fighting Enterprises (FFE) are at the forefront of beam detector development, with their new Fireray 5000 unit incorporating optical alignment and self-optimisation features. As beam detection depends upon the correct and continued alignment of the beam and sensor, this technology eases installation and maintenance. The other major benefit is that it reduces the probability of false alarms by automatically compensating for building shift and dust buildup. The 5000 houses the transmitter and receiver in the same unit, reflecting the beam off an unobtrusive prismatic plate, further reducing aesthetic intrusions and cabling requirements.

Beam type smoke detectors are ideal for protecting large indoor spaces from fire hazards. By detecting smoke particle presence over a broad area (typically 50m or 100m long by 15m wide), far fewer units are required to provide complete coverage than when using ‘point’ detectors. This approach minimises the costs, disruptions and intrusions of installation, cabling and placement.
FFE have also designed and produced several tried, tested and trusted models before: the Fireray 2000 is a separately housed transmitter and receiver system also available in an ATEX-certified EExd Explosion proof version, and the 50R and 100R are the reflected beam forerunners of the Fireray 5000.
FFE are the world leading suppliers of fire extinguishers for aviation use, and sell a selection of vibration switches and a Laser Aspirated Smoke Detector (single- and dual-channel).
