Alicat Mass Flow Controllers Powers MDC’s XpressStick Gas Delivery Module

Tucson, Arizona (August 28, 2017) – Alicat Scientific’s MCE mass flow controllers have been integrated into MDC Vacuum Products’ XpressStick™ MFC Gas Stick. With precision control of gas flows of up to 20SLPM and onboard display, Alicat’s MCE provides gas programming functionality to the gas connection module, which links pressurized gas inputs to vacuum chambers.

The Alicat MCE accurately controls gas flow rates as low as 0-0.5 sccm full scale or as high as 0-20 slpm full scale. With 20 to 50 millisecond control response times to setpoint changes, the MCE improves vacuum coating end products and helps eliminate target poisoning.

The all-in-one design of the XpressStick MFC gas stick eliminates complex hardware specification in processes which include a combination of specialty gases, pressure, precise regulation, and vacuum. Its easy programming and precise gas control system allows users to go from bottle to process in one simple step. Designed to meet ultra-high purity process requirements, the XpressStick is also offered in a stainless steel model for corrosive environments.

With the MCE’s zero warm up time, the XpressStick is ready to control process flows in just one second, with real time mass flow, volumetric flow, absolute pressure and temperature data, fully compensated for temperature and pressure. The gas module is programmed directly through the MCE’s integrated display, with easy changes to gas type using the on-board gas calibrations.

The standard gas calibration list includes 98 gases, with an additional 32 corrosive gases on the stainless steel model. Alicat’s built-in COMPOSER™ gas mixing software can be used to compose up to twenty additional custom blends using the standard gas list. Accuracy is virtually unaffected by change in gas type, and full-scale valve range is automatically recalibrated to maintain throughput ranges.

Alicat Scientific a Preferred Supplier for VICI Air Pollution Analyzer Calibrators

(VICI) as one of its preferred suppliers for gas flow controls in its Dynacalibrator Calibration Gas Generators. Alicat’s range of BASIS OEM mass flow controllers provide the control required by VICI to create gas mixes down to fractions of a nanogram per minute, in a compact footprint for easy integration.

Designed specifically for original equipment manufacture and process integration, BASIS is Alicat’s smallest footprint instrument. It controls gas flow rates used for mixing or diluting, or supplied into processes—such as gas analyzers, custom blending manifolds, and burners. Introduced in 2015, BASIS has been qualified and accepted by customers within gas chromatography, gas mixing, and sputtering for film coating, as well as burner applications.

BASIS MFCs were selected by VICI as they provide the necessary control to create precise gas concentrations from high parts per million (PPM) to low parts per billion (PPB). VICI has incorporated multiple BASIS mass flow controllers into some of its Dynacalibrator line, which use Metronics permeation devices to provide a wide range of accurate calibration gases for air pollution and stack gas analyzers.

BASIS handles the mass flow rates needed by the Dynacalibrators to produce highly repeatable gas mixes over a wide range of flows. Having a small footprint, a high turndown ratio of 200:1, and a rapid response (100 milliseconds) aid the Dynacal products in achieving both accuracy and precision goals.

The BASIS line of mass flow controllers come in three flow ranges: 1-100 sccm, 5-1000 sccm, and 0.1-20 slpm. They can be configured with six selectable gases—Air, Ar, CO2, N2, O2, and N2O—or with He or H2.

Alicat Adds Backlit Monochrome Display to Mass Flow and Pressure Instruments

Tucson, Arizona (January 24, 2017) – Alicat Scientific has added backlighting as a standard feature on monochrome LCD displays for its core range of mass flow meters, mass flow controllers and pressure controllers. The backlighting illuminates Alicat’s full-information, menu-driven, multi-parameter LCD display screens for easy reading, regardless of lighting conditions.

Customized Electronic Pressure Controllers for OEM Use from Alicat Scientific

Tucson, Arizona (December 7, 2016) – Alicat Scientific has added two new families of electronic pressure controllers specifically for high volume original equipment manufacture. The EPC family with single proportional valves, and EPCD family with dual valves, provide customized pressure control in embedded systems. The small footprint instruments respond quickly to upstream fluctuations to provide fast, accurate control of pressure in an economical, easy-to-integrate package. Alicat offers a choice of valves, valve orifices and process connections to fit customer specifications. EPC instruments are ideal for use in OEM gas chromatographs, fluidics dispensing for flow cytometry, and anywhere responsive pressure control is needed.

Alicat’s EPC family delivers responsive liquid or gas pressure control for high volume original equipment manufacture.

EPC and EPCD instruments have a 100 ms control response to still upstream pressure fluctuations in real time. NIST-traceable accuracy is 0.25% full-scale. The EPC family’s single proportional valve provides stable control of pressure in flowing applications, such as maintaining flow of carrier gas through the sample injection point in gas chromatographs. The EPCD features a second exhaust valve to provide efficient control of pressure in closed volumes, such as controlling the head space above a fluid for dispensing.

Alicat offers NPT, SAE, downport, and NeSSi process connections. Both digital (RS-232, RS-485, Modbus) and analog (0-5v, 0-10v, 4-20mA) communications are available to suit a range of end-user products.
